I sit listening to distant explosions. The city of Kharkiv has been given the title “hero city”, but its inhabitants don’t feel comforted thanks to this new status. In addition to Kharkiv, Mariupol, Volnovakha, Gostomel, Kherson and Chernihiv received such titles by presidential decree. Half of Kharkiv lies in ruins. Many who did not want to leave their hometown are leaving now. Houses have been destroyed, constant explosions have shaken people’s nerves, and even in silence, it is difficult to fall asleep. People leave for the nearest city, for example, to Poltava. They are looking for salvation in the city of Lviv, Poland and other countries.
