36 years ago on the night of April 26th, 1986, two explosions occurred in the fourth reactor of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The reactor was completely destroyed and a fire broke out, causing the release of a total of 190 tons of radioactive substances and 8 tons of radioactive fuel into the atmosphere.
